Kitchen safety
Cooking together should be fun. Here's the short version of what we ask grown-ups to handle, and what kids can confidently own.
Grown-ups handle
- • Anything hot — hobs, ovens, kettles, microwaves.
- • Sharp knives and graters for younger cooks.
- • Allergy checks on every label.
- • Electrical appliances.
Kids can own
- • Measuring, weighing and pouring.
- • Stirring, mixing and decorating.
- • Cracking eggs and tearing herbs.
- • Setting the table — and the timer.
Before you start
- • Wash hands, tie hair back, roll up sleeves.
- • Read the recipe together first.
- • Get all ingredients out on the counter.
- • Have a damp cloth ready for spills.
Allergens
We flag common allergens on every recipe. Always check ingredient labels — recipes and brand formulations can change.
